NYU Ranks Highest in International Student Enrollment and Study Abroad Placement

On Nov. 13, the Power of International Education, otherwise known as IIE, released its 2017 Open Do.ors report, ranking NYU as the number one institution in the United States for hostinginternational students as well as the American institution that sends the most students to study abroad sites.

According to the Open Doors press release, the 2016-2017 academic year was the second consecutive year in which more than one million international students attended U.S. universities.

“This also marks the eleventh consecutive year of continued expansion of the total number of international students in U.S. higher education,” the Open Doors press release read.

The report found that during the 2016-2017 school year, NYU enrolled 17,326 international students, which is 2,999 more international students than the University of Southern California, which is the American institution with the second-highest number of international students as well as students in study abroad sites.

Additionally, NYU sent 4,481 students abroad during the 2015-2016 school year — 798 more than the second leading institution, Texas A&M University.  Read more.
